Avathi & Muddena halli

Its around 1PM and here we are at Bhartharathna Sir M Vishweshwaraya’s house. He received Bharatharathna highest civilian honour in 1915 by Government of India, his birthday is celebrated as Engineers day in India, such was his contribution to the public by using his experience in the field of engineering. Born on 15th September 1861 at this same place Muddenahalli, he lived 102 years. I can continue with his achievements but that will take this entire blog or even couple more🙂 so let me continue with the memories of the trip.

“Promise me you will come to all our trips” said Victor.

After our last outing to Siddara betta we decided not to go for trekking. We shortlisted some places and finalised on Avathi. Vinay proposed this place but unfortunately he could not make it. One day before the outing we were 6, Sharan also showed interest but decided to go to native so finally we were 5.

All 5 from 5 different part of the city. Victor – Nelamangala, Ramadas – Kengeri, Dileep – 8th mile, Radha – Thindlu and me Abbigere. We decided that Nagasandra Metro station will be start point. Victor and Ramadas came by bikes, Dileep reached there by jogging 😉. I suppose to pick them all at 6:45 because I was the driver this time (I yet to get my drivers bata 😜) but I reached the spot at 7, thanks to the Shetti halli railway crossing once in blue moon there will be crossing of 3 trains and today is that lucky day 😏

7AM @ Nagasandra metro station

Everyone boarded into the car and next stop was Radha’s place. In 30 mins we reached there, took Nandini Mishra Peda for snacking, filled petrol & air, continued towards Udupi Athithya, breakfast destination.

After stumptous breakfast we continued towards final destination. Route was very easy drive through Bengaluru-Hyderabad highway pass by airport and Nandi to reach Avathi. By 9:20 we reached the place, weather was very nice, so instead of driving all the way the base of hill we all decided to park the car near the lake and walk.

On the way we saw some plantations chilli, grapes and some flowers, so soothing to eyes! After walking for a while Victor wanted to race, made Radha as photographer/videographer 😁

Distance to temple from where we parked was approximately 1 km and we took 1 hour to reach there. Lot of fun in this streach. This is where the epic pic of the trip was taken. Look how high Victor jumped 😳

Next, Banyan tree. Everyone wanted to showoff their swing skills, everyone went back to their childhood days. Radha was hesitant but Victor made him try, and Radha took it sportively and posed for a photo 😎 This is where Victor told to Radha “Promise me you will come to all our trips” that’s how Radha gelled with us, cracking so many jokes, full of fun!!!

After walking for few more minutes we reached the temple, took darshana of Thimmarayappa Swamy just before priests closed the door for abhisheka. Then we continued to climb the hill.

Its a very small hill with around 80m elevation and about 500m walk, but there were some steep inclinations where Radha decided to stop and asked us to continue but Ramadas motivated him and made him climb.

While everyone was walking slowly on the pathway with Radha, I could not resist but started exploring other routes, becuase this is where my Team Veerakannadigaru trained for India’s first 24 hour adventure race Namma Adventure Race, in which we secured 2nd place 🕺🏾.

Making my own route I reached the hilltop and all reached there by short route. View of the Avathi lake was breathtaking, refreshing and soul full.

By the feel of those rocks Victor literally went back to his childhood days and while sleeping on the rock told us how he used to help his father. ‘During the summer he used to climb Kodaikanal hills to pluck plums with his father. While his father was working he used to take rest on the rocks then take heavy load of plums downhill’. He still cherishes those moments 😍

Teleported to Kodaikanal

After a while Ramadas and myself decided to explore some other part of the hill. Victor, Radha and Dileep were sitting and recalling their old memories under the influence of cool breeze.

There were no routes on the other side of the hill, but we made our own route and reached this amazing spot, looks like tip of the mountain. I tried my luck at rock climbing 😬

When we went back Radha was telling some mythological story. After spending some good amount of time we decided to head back.

On our way back we took rest at the same banyan tree and then had tender coconut at the same junction where we raced in the morning 🏃🏾‍♂️

Heading to next location, on the way we saw paragliders from Nandi hills! Ramadas was so excited and he was saying next we will go to Nandi hills 😀

After driving for around 30 mins we reached Muddenahalli the birthplace of Bhartharathna Sir M Vishweshwaraya.

We were so inspired after visiting the museum, where some of his artefacts were kept along with Bharatharathna badge 🏅 and newspaper cutouts of his life story and achievements!!!

Then we visited his Samadhi which is at a distance of few minutes walk from his house. While on the way we saw government school children sitting under the tree and having lunch 😇

Its time for luch, and I realised Nandi base is the nearest place where we can get some food and Sinchana palace where I usually have breakfast whenever I cycle to Nandi is the best in town. On the way we saw Bull temple (Basavanna) at the juncture of Nandi hills and Chennagiri.

After good lunch, we headed back. When we reached Yalahanka Radha invited all of us to his home for a coffee. It was getting late because Ramadas already booked ticket to his native, still we decided to quickly have coffee and escape but after reaching his house it took more time for us, because it was like a mini botanical garden for all of us. Many crotons in ground floor, some plants inside house and few bonsai in terrace. Not only the plants but house itself was very nice, everyone was impressed 👌🏾

After sipping the coffee we started our journey back to Nagasandra metro station. Just after few meters from Radha’s house we are about to take right turn and we heard big thud sound. A bike hit the car! fault was completely by car driver. He was driving in wrong direction and speaking on a phone, but after coming out of the car he started shouting at biker, when biker replied in English car driver shouted “en englishnall mathadthiya? Kannada baralva??” (why you are talking in English? dont you know Kannada??) Even today I am not able to understand how language could have avoided the accident!!!

Since we were late, we didnt stop and headed straight to Nagasandra Metro. At around 5PM reached the location and dispersed with memories to cherish.

Happy faces after a nice trip 😀
